CARMEL
Where the pines whisper low to the ocean
and the stories of centuries could tell
Where the skies ever seem to be bluest
stands the dear little mission Carmel
A gem in a beautiful setting
an heirloom from the padres of old
A gift that the whole world may share in
better far then rubies and gold
And they who so patiently built it
rest now neath the grass and the sod
But their handiwork stands through the ages
a tribute of love to their God
Oh ye who are heartsick and weary
and would rest on life's rugged way
Go seek ye that dear little mission
on the shores near old Monterey
As ye enter its dim dusky portals
all your cares and your worries will cease
And you'll find in it's sweet cloister'd silence
God's most glorious gift - perfect peace
